TEACHING TECHNIQUES OF READING SKILL FOR THE EIGHTH YEAR STUDENTS OF MTSN 1 MODEL PALANGKA RAYA

The principle purpose of the study was to describe the teaching techniques applied by the teacher English at eighth grade of MTsN 1 Model Palangka Raya. The problems of the study were (1) What are the techniques of teaching reading applied by the teacherat MTsN 1 Model Palangka Raya ? (2) What are the problems faced by the teacher in the teaching reading at MTsN 1 Model Palangka Raya?. There fore purpose of the study are : (1) To describe the techniques used by the teacher in teaching reading at MTsN 1 Model Palangka Raya. (2) To describe the problems faced by the teacher in the teaching reading at MTsN 1 Model Palangka Raya.
In this study, it was used qualitative research approach. In collecting the data the writer used observation, interview, field note and documentation. To analyze the data it was used data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The subject of the study was the English teacher at the eighth grade of MTsN 1 Model Palangka Raya and the object of the study was the techniques of teaching reading applied by the teacher and the problems faced by the teacher at eighth grade of MTsN 1 Model Palangka Raya.
The result the study were as follow : first of all the techniques of teaching reading applied by the teacher, in teaching learning process the teacher used Grammar translation method as her method and in implementation GTM, there are some common techniques that used the teacher that are : (1) The roles of the teacher and the students. (2)Translation of a literary passage. (3) Reading comprehension questions. (4) Deductive application of rules. (5) Memorization (6) Composition. And the problems faced by the teacher English when implementation the techniques are : (1) The class wass ocrowded and noisy that the teacher got aproblem tocreatea good learning condition.(2) Lack of vocabulary. It was because they felt lazy to memorize. (3) Some times the teacher could not finish the materials at the endofthemeeting. (4) Slow students response.
