GRAMMATICAL ERROR ANALYSIS IN RECOUNT TEXT PRODUCED BY THE ELEVENTH YEAR STUDENTS OF MA MUSLIMAT NU PALANGKA RAYA

The principle purpose of this study is to identify some problems as follows: What are the grammatical errors in recount text produced by the eleventh year students of MA Muslimat NU Palangka Raya? What are the factors contribute to errors in recount text produced by the eleventh year students of MA Muslimat NU Palangka Raya? Because of that, the purpose of this study are (a) To identify and classify the grammatical errors in recount text produced by the eleventh year students of MA Muslimat NU Palangka Raya (b) To identify the factors contribute to errors in recount text produced by the eleventh year students of MA Muslimat NU Palangka Raya.
In this study, the writer used the descriptive quantitative approach of which the data were obtained from the student’s recount text. Particularly the object of the study grammatical produced by the students, namely: omission, addition, mis-formation, and mis-ordering.
The subject of this study was eleventh year students of XI-IPA class. Which consist of 27 students were students who were chosen by using purposive random sampling technique.
The main research findings were:
(1)The grammatical errors in recount text produced by the eleventh year students of MA Muslimat NU Palangka Raya are 207 occurrences of all errors. In term of each type errors, the errors of omission with the frequency 49 (23.7%) times, errors of addition with the frequency 23 (11.11%) times, mis-formation with the frequency 120 (57.97%) times, mis-ordering with the frequency 15 (7,25%) times.
(2)The factor contribute of errors are over-generalization, ignorance of rules restrictions, and false concepts hypothesized.
From the result, the writer is able to conclude that the students have not deep understanding in using grammatical composition especially in composing the text into a good structure.
It is suggested that the student need more practice dealing with verb forms since they were the basic knowledge needed for telling their experience.
