THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING MOVING PICTURES TO VOCABULARY MASTERY AT THE SIXTH GRADE TUDENTS OF MIS ISLAMIYAHPALANGKA RAYA

The main purpose of the study is to measure the effectiveness of using moving pictures to vocabulary mastery at the sixth grade students of MIS Islamiyah of Palangka Raya.
The type of study was quasi-experimental study especially non-randomized control group pre-test – post-test design and it was used quantitative approach to find out the answer of the problem of study. The sample of the study consisted of two classes with the total number of the students were 44 students, namely VI B as the experimental group (taught by using moving picture) which consisted of 22 students and VI A as the control group (taught without using moving picture) which consisted of 22 students. The sample of study was determined using cluster sampling technique. After obtaining the data from experimental and control group, the writer analyzed the data using t-test calculation manually and also SPSS 18.0 program to test the hypothesis.
The result of t-test with manual calculation indicates the calculated value (t-observed) was greater than t-table at 5% and 1% significance level or 2.0212.704 and the result of t-test with SPSS 18.0 calculation also indicates the calculated value (t-observed) was greater than t-table at 5% and 1% significance level or2.0212.704. The results of testing hypothesis indicates that Alternative Hypothesis (ha) stating that moving pictures gives effect to the students’ vocabulary mastery was accepted and Null Hypothesis (ho) stating that moving pictures does not give effect to the students’ vocabulary mastery was rejected. The result of t-test which is higher than t-table at 5% significance level means thatmoving pictures gave an effect toward the students’ vocabulary mastery at the sixth grade students of MIS IslamiyahPalangka Raya and the result of t-test which is higher than t-table at 1% significance level means that the effect was very significant.
